Example #1:
“Lord – I come before You today incredibly humbled and thankful for the gift of another day. This is the day that the Lord hath made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:24. Thank you for this opportunity to right yesterday’s wrongs, to start anew, to act with purpose, and to be a light for You to all those around me.
I ask You to come close today, Lord, closer than the world around me. I ask You to fill my soul with the Holy Spirit in such a way that my words and my actions are an example of You. Lord, You have searched me and known me. You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you understand my thoughts from afar. You scrutinize my path and my lying down, and you are intimately acquainted with all my ways. Even before there is a word on my tongue, behold, O Lord, You know it all, Psalm 139:1-4. Guard my thoughts and my words today that they would be pleasing to You and a comfort to those around me.
I ask for peace every day Lord, as the world streams doubt, insecurity, distraction, and fear at me. Help me remember Your great promise: For I know the plans that I have for you…Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future, Jeremiah 29:11. Allow these thoughts to sink deeply into my heart such that the challenges of this world do not drag me down. Help me keep the faith, Lord, that you are in charge of my journey, for the sole, perfect purpose of drawing me closer to You.
I pray a hedge of protection around my family and friends. I know that In the fear of you, Lord, there is strong confidence, and your children will have refuge, Proverbs 14:26. I pray for us, for all believers, Lord, that we would not engage in paying back evil for evil or insult for insult but, on the contrary, giving a blessing, since we were called for this, so that we can inherit a blessing, 1 Peter 3:9.
I pray these things in the context of your will, Lord. That our lives be lived for Your glory, not our own. That we would know You and love You and live for You each and every day, such that on Your return, You will look at each of us and say, ‘Well done, my good and faithful servant.’ – Amen.”
